I'm sitting on my bed starring at my phone, Kasper announces that Libby is here.
I'm not sure I'm in the mood for company, but then I see her standing there looking like a queen. I stand up, but she sits down on my bed and pulls me down with her.
"Why did you stand up for me? I'm not royalty, you know?" Libby giggles.
“You sure look like royalty in that dress,” I say.
Oh, God. I just embarrassed myself, didn't I? Libby blushes. I turn on the TV, hoping this will all soon be forgotten. Libby pats my hand and her cheeks are still red.
My Goodness is she beautiful with her black hair, gray eyes, and tanned skin.
After a while Libby clears her throat, causing me to snap out of my daydream. Get it together, Tulip! You just got out of a relationship I scold myself.
"I was wondering, Tulip. If when you're ready, you'd like to go on date with me? Not now, of course, because I understand it's a bit too soon."
“Um. That makes me nervous!”
Libby smiles. "Yep, then you have feelings for me, too. So what do you say? Will you go on a date with me when you're ready?"
"I'd love, too," I say. Now it was my turn to blush.
My phone rings. I answer it, but no one speaks. All I can hear is breathing. I click off immediately Libby looks over at me concerned.
"Is everything okay, Tulip?"
"No, not really. Libby, there's something I have to tell you. It's about my ex-girlfriend.. That relationship. It was toxic."
Libby takes my face in her hands and strokes my cheeks with her thumbs. I put my head on her chest as she strokes my hair.
"You can tell me anything. Let's find out if that caller left a voicemail. "
I put the phone on speaker. The voicemails Heidi left leave me shaken.
"Answer your damn phone, Tulip.
“Stop ignoring me!”
"Oh, alright. You're going to pay for this!"
Libby and I stare at each other in shock and fear.
