I gather myself together. I wasn't going to let this person beat me and they sure as hell couldn't have my story I worked so hard on! I just need to think. As if it's a sign, Helen sends me a message again.
Helen: Screw being careful! Going after that jerk that stole your work?
Me: What changed your mind?
Helen: I went over to the story, and you're right. They did still your work. I even messaged the thief.
Me: Good luck with that. They're not a nice person!
Helen: Oh, I know. Hold on, sec. I have a few screenshots of our conversation.
Helen has sent a photo.
I click on the photo. My eyes widen as I read the conversation.
Helen: What the hell is wrong with you?
Stranger: Excuse me? Oh, I'm sorry. I mean, excuse you?
Helen: How dare you!!???
Stranger: How dare I what?
Helen: Don't play innocent. You know what you did! You stole my best friend's hard work. Do you how many months it took to write that beautiful story?
Stranger: Beautiful story? Your friend is a talentless hack.
Helen: Keep telling yourself that. I'm reporting you.
Stranger: LOL go ahead and try
I stand up from my computer and pace. What am I am going to do and then a realization hits me. They didn't exactly admit, but maybe I could still get them. I research copyright laws... That's when I come across it. There was an advertisement for a copyright lawyer. I'm going to do whatever it takes to get what is rightfully mine back.
